Yandere Virus is due September 21 after a two-week multiplayer delay
The live US Steam page lists Yandere Virus as Coming Soon for September 21, 2026. Moka Sphere moved the date from September 8 to September 21 so the extra two weeks could be spent on multiplayer testing, stabilization and bug fixes; the announcement says the content was complete and no new content was planned for the extension.
The September 18 playtest conclusion says the game is ready for release and that remaining work is focused on reviewing feedback and final stabilization. That is a developer status update, not proof that the build can already be bought or played. Steam still shows no US price, editions, launch discount or exact unlock hour.
| Question | Current answer | Evidence boundary |
|---|---|---|
| Current date | September 21, 2026 | Coming Soon; not yet released |
| Previous date | September 8, 2026 | Moved by the developer |
| Delay reason | Multiplayer testing, stabilization and bug fixes | Developer explanation, not an independent test |
| US price / editions | Not displayed | Regional prices and packages remain unknown |
| Unlock hour | Not announced | Do not infer a timezone from the date |
The demo is disabled and the final playtest has ended
There is no public Yandere Virus build available through the reviewed Steam records on September 18. Moka Sphere discontinued the demo in August because the full version's network system and stability had changed enough that maintaining both network environments was no longer practical. The notice explicitly says the demo can no longer be downloaded or launched, even if it was already in a library or installed.
The later Final Steam Playtest was a selected, time-limited test rather than an open replacement demo. Its three rounds ended on September 17 PDT, and Moka Sphere's latest announcement confirms the playtest has concluded. Requesting access now, finding an old demo entry or having old files does not establish current playability.
| Build | Status | Important limit |
|---|---|---|
| Full game | Not yet available | Steam still says Coming Soon |
| Public demo | Discontinued | Cannot be downloaded or launched |
| Previously installed demo | Also disabled | The official notice explicitly includes installed copies |
| Final Steam Playtest | Concluded | Selected testers only; final round ended September 17 PDT |
| Next public access | Planned full release | Recheck Steam on September 21 |
Collect materials, make a cure, save the infected friend and escape
A trip to a mysterious place becomes a survival problem after a friend is infected by the Yandere Virus. The published loop is to explore alone or with friends, collect scattered materials including Platonic Pumpkins, create a cure, rescue the infected friend and escape.
The infected friend pursues the group with disturbing whispers, and being caught ends the game. Mutated plants in a graveyard are another announced threat. Official copy does not explain map count, objective randomization, inventory limits, cure recipe, checkpoint rules, run length, difficulty settings or whether the infected role is always AI-controlled, so those details need a release-build guide rather than inference.
| Stage | Confirmed action | Still unknown |
|---|---|---|
| Explore | Search the mysterious location | Map count, layout rules and route structure |
| Gather | Collect scattered materials and Platonic Pumpkins | Inventory capacity, spawn logic and exact quantities |
| Craft | Create a cure | Recipe steps and whether crafting is interruptible |
| Rescue | Save the infected friend | Role control, revival rules and intermediate states |
| Escape | Leave after completing the objective | Exit conditions, checkpoints and average run length |
| Failure | Being caught results in game over | Team-wipe and retry behavior |
It supports solo play or up to four players online with proximity voice chat
Steam describes Yandere Virus as playable solo or in online co-op for up to four players, and the store copy says a host can invite up to three Steam friends. Proximity voice chat is part of the announced design, so distance affects how players communicate while exploring.
Steam does not list local co-op, shared-screen play or Remote Play Together. The reviewed sources also do not document public matchmaking, private or passworded lobbies, join-in-progress, host migration, cross-play, text chat, push-to-talk, voice moderation or mute controls. Those omissions are kept as unknowns rather than converted into negative claims.
| Feature | Current evidence | Boundary |
|---|---|---|
| Player count | 1–4 players | Solo plus up to three invited Steam friends |
| Online co-op | Listed | Final server quality is not yet tested |
| Proximity voice | Advertised | Range, mute and moderation controls unpublished |
| Local / split-screen | Not listed | Do not assume couch co-op |
| Matchmaking / private lobby | Not explained | Invite support does not define every lobby option |
| Cross-play / host migration | Not announced | Only a Windows Steam release is currently listed |
The horror comes from pursuit, whispers, capture and hostile mutated plants
The official description supports a specific content warning: an infected friend hunts the group, communicates through disturbing whispers and causes a game over on capture, while mutated plants can attack in a graveyard. This is a chase-focused horror premise, but it is not enough to infer the final game's gore level, jump-scare frequency or overall intensity.
Steam currently publishes no formal mature-content description for the app. User-defined tags are discovery metadata rather than an official age rating or a reliable content checklist, so this guide does not use them to make sexual-content, violence or suitability claims.
| Element | Officially described | Not established |
|---|---|---|
| Pursuit | The infected friend chases the group | AI and player-control rules in every mode |
| Audio cue | Disturbing whispers | Frequency and accessibility controls |
| Capture | Being caught ends the game | Animation intensity and retry flow |
| Other enemies | Mutated plants attack in a graveyard | Complete enemy list and encounter frequency |
| Formal content descriptor | None published in the current Steam record | Final age rating or region-specific classification |
Windows is the only listed platform, with full controller support and 23 languages
Steam currently lists Windows only; no macOS, Linux, PlayStation, Xbox or Nintendo version is announced in the reviewed sources. The product record marks Full Controller Support and separately lists DualShock and DualSense support. These storefront declarations do not document every controller model, remapping option, glyph behavior or Steam Deck result.
All 23 listed languages have interface and subtitle support. Korean is the only language marked for full audio. Steam also lists Achievements and Family Sharing, but not Steam Cloud; an absent store flag is not proof that a feature can never be added.
| Area | Current status | Evidence limit |
|---|---|---|
| Desktop platforms | Windows only | macOS and Linux are not listed |
| Console versions | Not announced | No PlayStation, Xbox or Nintendo listing reviewed |
| Controller | Full Controller Support; DualShock and DualSense listed | No device-by-device test or remapping details |
| Languages | 23 interface and subtitle languages | Korean is the only full-audio language |
| Steam features | Achievements and Family Sharing | Counts and family-sharing edge cases unpublished |
| Steam Cloud | Not listed | Do not assume cross-device save sync |
Both PC tiers require 12 GB, with 8 GB RAM minimum and 16 GB recommended
The published minimum pairs an i5-6600K or Ryzen 5 1600 with 8 GB RAM, a GTX 1060 6 GB or RX 570 6 GB and DirectX 11. Recommended moves to an i7-8700 or Ryzen 5 2600, 16 GB RAM, an RTX 2060 6 GB or RX 5700 XT 6 GB and DirectX 12. Both require 64-bit Windows 10 or 11 and 12 GB of available storage.
Steam does not attach a resolution, graphics preset or frame-rate target to either tier. It also does not publish broadband requirements, installed-size overhead, Steam Deck compatibility or release-build benchmarks. Component lists should therefore be treated as developer targets, not a performance guarantee.
