Flamecraft launched on September 17 with a timed Steam discount

Flamecraft is no longer coming soon. Monster Couch released the digital adaptation on September 17, 2026 across Steam, PlayStation 5, Xbox and Nintendo Switch. The Steam launch post and each live platform store now show an available product rather than a preorder date.

On September 18, the US Steam store displayed $15.99, 20% below its $19.99 list price, and said the introductory offer ends October 1. That is a dated US Steam observation, not a permanent worldwide price; console prices, taxes and sale windows can differ.

This page covers Monster Couch's digital adaptation, not the physical box

Flamecraft began as Cardboard Alchemy's tabletop game; this release is Monster Couch's digital adaptation. It turns the illustrated board into an animated 3D town while preserving the central contest to finish with the most Reputation.

The digital version advertises more than 70 animated dragons and 30 shops, AI opponents, local play, online play, a tutorial and a solo story. None of the reviewed launch sources says every physical promo card or tabletop expansion is included, so physical-edition content should not be assumed to transfer into the base digital purchase.

Each turn is a choice between visiting a shop and enchanting one

A Flamekeeper places Artisan Dragon cards into matching shop slots, then uses town shops to build resources and effects. On a turn, the key choice is to visit a shop to gather resources or spend artifacts to enchant a shop.

Enchanting activates every dragon working at that shop, so sequencing their abilities can create larger combinations. Fancy Dragons add one-time abilities or special scoring opportunities, while Companion cards provide additional ways to score.

The digital game's core turn loop
StepWhat you doWhy it matters
Place dragonsAdd an Artisan Dragon to a matching shop slotExpands the shop's available powers
VisitGo to a shop and gather its resourcesBuilds the goods needed for later actions
EnchantSpend artifacts to improve a shopAwards Reputation and fires all dragons there
ScoreUse Fancy Dragons and Companions around a planCreates extra Reputation opportunities

The town is a shared engine, so every improvement can help a rival

Every dragon placed and every shop added becomes available to the other Flamekeepers. Building a strong shop can improve your own next turn, but it can also give opponents a better visit or enchantment target before you return.

Random shop, dragon and enchantment order changes the available puzzle from game to game. The useful decision is therefore not simply which card has the largest isolated reward, but when to expose a shared opportunity and whether you can convert it into Reputation first.

Solo play adds AI difficulty, a narrated tutorial and unlockable story pieces

Solo Mode lets one player move at their own pace against AI opponents. Official launch material says completing achievements unlocks pieces of an original story about the town building a lighthouse to guide distant Artisan Dragons home.

The interactive tutorial is fully narrated by tabletop host Becca Scott and walks through the mechanics step by step. Official material also mentions a small completion reward, but does not publish a full reward list or a guaranteed tutorial length.

Local and online play support up to five, with crossplay across platforms

Flamecraft is competitive rather than cooperative: two to five players pursue their own Reputation totals. Local custom games support up to five people sharing one PC or console and can include bot opponents. Steam also lists Shared/Split Screen and Remote Play Together.

Online play offers Short Matchmaking, Long Matchmaking and Custom Online Games. Monster Couch explicitly says crossplay lets players join one another regardless of launch platform. Console online play can require the platform's paid online membership; cross-save was not confirmed in the reviewed sources and should not be inferred from crossplay.

The free demo is still listed, but it is a limited slice of the full game

Steam currently exposes a free Flamecraft Demo for Windows and macOS, and PlayStation Store lists a separate PS5 demo. The Steam demo originally launched for Next Fest; Monster Couch later said it would remain available longer, and the current store record still marks that demo released and downloadable.

Official demo notes describe a selection of shops, some Artisan and Fancy Dragons, three bot difficulty levels, local multiplayer for up to five and the narrated tutorial. They explicitly positioned Campaign Mode and Online Multiplayer as full-game features, so the demo should not be treated as a complete mode or content comparison. Save transfer from the demo to the paid game was not confirmed in the reviewed sources.

The hardware targets are light, but both published OS lines are obsolete for the current Steam client

The developer-provided Windows block names Windows 7, 8 or 10 64-bit, but the same Steam page warns that the Steam client supports Windows 10 and later. Treat Windows 10 as the practical floor for a current Steam installation rather than relying on the older game-spec wording.

The macOS block still says macOS 10.11, although Steam ended client support for macOS 10.15 in February 2025 and says future versions require macOS 11 or newer. That makes the storefront's 10.11 line unsuitable as current purchase guidance. No recommended tier, target resolution, frame rate or Apple-silicon-specific statement is published.
