DinoBones release date, price, demo and playtest status

Steam schedules DinoBones: Tidy Up the Museum for September 22, 2026 on Windows, macOS, and Linux. The US store still has no price or exact unlock time. No PlayStation, Xbox, or Nintendo version appears in the first-party record reviewed here.

There is no public downloadable demo in the live Steam app record. Indie Souls Studio opened pre-registration for a small playtest group on September 10, then said on September 17 that the build was ready but still waiting for Steam review. That means registration or selection is not proof that access is live; selected testers were expected to receive keys, with broader Steam Playtest requests planned after approval.

What do you actually do in DinoBones?

The current store description presents a three-step loop: collect bones from floors, stairs, and spilled crates; identify which display each initially unknown piece belongs to; then find its correct slot and attach it. Crates can be opened, tipped over, or thrown, so the work is physical sorting and assembly rather than a menu-only fossil puzzle.

Each skeleton's bones have their own appearance, color, texture, and wear. The latest description explicitly says there are no skill trees or upgrades: progress comes from learning to recognize the pieces more quickly. The page therefore does not repeat the older storefront wording about unlockable carrying, highlighting, or placement skills.

About 2,000 bones, nine skeletons and museum events

The live Steam description now says the museum contains about 2,000 scattered bones and nine skeletons. A developer announcement names Allosaurus, Tyrannosaurus rex, woolly mammoth, Triceratops, Stegosaurus, Pachycephalosaurus, Parasaurolophus, Pteranodon, and Brachiosaurus. Because that list includes a mammal and a pterosaur, this page calls them prehistoric displays rather than describing all nine as dinosaurs.

Completing skeletons is also said to trigger special events around the museum and leave behind small rewards, toys, and surprises. A cat accompanies the player in the otherwise solo setup. The official material does not yet publish a completion-time estimate, event list, free-roam structure, or replay system.

Single-player, controller support and desktop compatibility

Steam currently lists single-player, full controller support, Steam Cloud, Family Sharing, save-anytime, custom volume controls, play-at-your-own-pace support, and no required timed input. DualShock and DualSense support categories are present. These are storefront declarations rather than hands-on accessibility tests, and the current record does not advertise multiplayer or co-op.

The macOS build is restricted to Apple Silicon: the minimum lists macOS 12 Monterey and an M1, while Intel-based Macs are explicitly unsupported. Linux minimum guidance lists Ubuntu 20.04 64-bit or SteamOS 3 and requires Vulkan. A SteamOS requirement does not by itself establish a Steam Deck Verified or Playable rating.

Official Windows, Mac and Linux system requirements

The comparison table below contains the current Windows tiers. Steam separately gives Apple M1 and M1 Pro tiers for macOS and the same CPU, memory, and general GPU classes for Linux, with Vulkan required. All three platform records list 4 GB of available storage.

Steam does not attach resolution, frame rate, graphics preset, SSD requirement, or Steam Deck performance to these components. The listed specifications are publisher guidance for an unreleased build, not independent benchmarks.

Language support and the store's AI-content statement

The live record lists interface support for English, French, Italian, German, Spanish from Spain, Japanese, Korean, Brazilian Portuguese, Turkish, Russian, and Simplified Chinese. It does not list full audio or subtitle support, so interface localization should not be described as voiced localization.

The developer states that the game does not use AI-generated content in gameplay. That is a narrowly worded gameplay claim; it does not establish how every store image, trailer, marketing asset, or earlier development artifact was produced, so this page does not broaden it.
